In case you forgot

Today I passed a man driving a small sedan with a bike secured to the trunk and a kayak bungeed to the roof. That really only leaves the back seat for the jet pack, but only if his cross country skis are angled just right. Thankfully we were going in opposite directions. The road must get rough where he was headed. Neither spelunking nor zip lining have made it on my to-do list for today. Besides, even if he just packed them as a Plan B, Plan A must have its faults.

Maybe he was preparing in the wake of the impending tenth anniversary of 9/11. If television teaches us anything, it's terrorists attack in increments of 5 years and we should be on especially high alert for those dates. On top of that, they feed us touching tributes to remember an event they told us never to forget in the first place... Bin Laden is dead and we still have to do this? At what point do we stop seeing a flaming World Trade Center on TV just because the year ends in a 1 or a 6?

Either way, Mr. President, if there is any trouble this year and you need to be evacuated to an undisclosed location in the Andes Mountains, I know who to call.
